Chiropractic Care

There are three general phases of chiropractic care. After a total examination that may include patient history, symptoms, general health tests, reflex and strength tests,  x-rays, and diagnostic studies, the doctor will work with the patient to create a care plan based on the diagnoses. After the first visit, the Doctor will explain the patient's diagnosed condition, the personalized treatment plan and other suggestions for care, and the anticipated length of chiropractic treatment to reach optimum health.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient to need chiropractic care or adjustments 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It is typical to need chiropractic care or adjustments about 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic focuses on the alignment of the spine and other joints in the body that supports function of the nervous system. Chiropractic Wellness Center aims to help patients maintain optimal health. Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on treating disease once it occurs, our chiropractic care emphasizes the importance of improving your health in an effort to reduce the risk of pain and illness in the first place.

What is a chiropractor?

A Chiropractor is a primary care doctor specializing in spinal health. Specifically, the treatment and diagnoses of the musculoskeletal and nervous system. Chiropractors are trained in manual adjustment techniques to realign the spine and other joints to eliminate the cause of health problems. In addition to adjustments, Dr. Maxwell provides soft tissue therapies, corrective exercises, nutritional, lifestyle and fitness advice to help patients achieve ideal health.

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a safe and controlled force that is applied to a joint to restore mobility and correct misalignment. Adjustments rarely cause discomfort as most movements are a gentle pressure. Many patients feel immediate relief after treatment. Sometimes an adjustment can create soreness similar to that of exercise. Drinking lots of water and icing helps to promote the healing process.

What can chiropractic care treat?

Many people assume chiropractic treatment is only for those with neck and back pain. These are great reasons to go to a chiropractor but there are so many more! Chiropractic care can address headaches, muscle soreness, digestion issues, achy joints, and many other concerns or discomforts. Our office accepts all case types including auto accidents and workers comp.

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "Dr. Maxwell and her team are really great. I love that she takes the time to really figure out what is going on with me and genuinely CARES about my health and well-being. I have been going to her for years. I had been hurting SO badly with chronic pain due to illness and debilitating migraines and she got me in right away, and adjusted me gently since it had been a while; even this gentle (but thorough) adjustment had me feeling 100times better than I've been for weeks. I can't brag enough. I have always felt so good after her adjustments. I'll be making the drive from Mukilteo to Newcastle just to continue to receive treatment from her and Dr Stephanie every week."
